half marathon update - keeping it real.

****since making this video God had answered a prayer!  you'll hear me express my anxiety regarding a specific part of the 1/2 marathon course.  this afternoon a friend from church, who lives ON the hill, told me they are staying home from church to cheer on the thousands of runners.  including me!  she even offered to run up the hill with me.  all i can say is 'thank you God'....truly.  i MUST trust that He will give me the strength. *****

well, i'm attempting another video.  and keeping it very real.  i figure it will either one, make others feel more comfortable in their own skin or two, totally backfire making people cringe with the lack of makeup and slightly heavy breathing.  take your pick.

************
on a side note:  the weather is finally turning the corner around here.  the drawer fronts of the dresser in the music room have been painted for almost one month now!  i'm hoping to finish up the base and have a music room tour soon. :)

  2. Awww Sara you are so adorable! What time is your race Sunday? I want to cover you and your husband in prayer. I know you can do this!! Gosh, you make me want to get up and go too...almost..hehe. I have never been much of a runner. I'm more of a fast pace walker I guess. Both of my walking buddies moved to Texas so I have to go it alone. I'm praying that someone will come along and help keep me on my toes. I need accountabilty you could say...ha! Have fun and enjoy the race ((hugs)) Susie

  10. Congratulations on all your accomplishments! I'm fairly new to your blog, so I hope it's okay to comment.

First off, I wish you all the best this weekend. How exciting! You'll do great, I am sure.

And regarding your comment about not losing any weight, ISN'T THAT SO ANNOYING! I spent a summer running with a friend hoping to lose some baby weight and I had the same result. But, I wanted to let you know about Dustin Maher http://dustinmaherfitness.com/ -- he's out of Madison, Wisconsin and is helping moms get fit. I have some of his "Fit Moms For Life" dvds (because I'm in Iowa) and they are great. So I thought I'd pass that along. Regardless, I'm sure you are way, way, way stronger now and just think of all the things you have already accomplished! That's awesome!!!

  11. Congrats on training for your first half-marathon! I'm a runner and the half is my favorite distance. You will LOVE the race environment - and it will give you that extra adrenaline that you need. I would definitely start out slow - don't let runners passing you at the start make you speed up. The first mile may be a bit hectic but it will thin out and you will find your pace. I can't wait to hear all about it - BEST OF LUCK!!

  12. Wow, good for you! I am sure you will amaze yourself when you cross that finish line and it will be worth all the hard work. I am a runner who hasn't lost weight from running either. Like you, it was a little disappointing but I know my body is healthier for it. Remember, it doesn't matter how fast you go, it's just put one foot in front of the other.
Good Luck and an early Happy Mother's Day!

  15. That is great. You are such an inspiration. I need to start running or doing something. I will be thinking about you on sunday and will say a prayer that you can accomplish this goal. 16. Thank you so much for this post! I'm running my first 1/2 marathon (20k to be exact!) on June 4. I share so many of your same anxieties, plus a few extremely irrational ones (what if I have to poop?!? :)). God has planned big things for us and I happen to think a 1/2 marathon is one of them. Will be praying for you on Sunday!

  20. Okay, don't even know you but will be praying for you Sunday. You are an inspiration to all moms! You are most likely so much stronger now and bones/muscles are healthier, but not losing weight is always a bummer. I guess it really is 'keeping it real' and having to do it for God's glory adds virtue you might not have sought after initially on your own, but is probably more meritorious in the long run. My goal...which seems almost unattainable, is to be able to "run" a 5K by this coming fall. I cannot even make it 1/2 mile!

  22. Nerves are natural, Sara. Once you get going there will be people all around to support and encourage you. My 13 year old and I have run a couple of half marathons together and the people around us are more encouraging than I am (in her eyes). You will do awesome and can't wait to hear the report! Great job in the video, too.

  23. Seriously, you could not be more adorable!!! What a wonderful example you are setting for your children by making a (big)goal, and having the strength of character (it's hard to get on that treadmill sometimes!) to persevere to completion. Good for you!!
I will be cheering you on, on Sunday...Team Sara!!

  24. Sara, I am so proud of you for attempting a half marathon! That is so big for a mom who has 5 kiddos! I cannot wait to hear how you did! I have become very active in the past 4 months with personal training and kickboxing! You look fabulous, but if you were interested in losing a few pounds, then you should track your calories thru livestrong.com. I was able to lose 8 pounds by paying attention to what I eat! hugs, Cathy
